This is my father-in-law's 2004 Vauxhall Meriva 1.6. For several weeks now it has been intermittently cutting out while out of gear (eg pulling up at junctions etc.). Some times it will require 2-3 start attempts to fire it back up. There is also an eggy smell (catalyst?) when the fault occurs. Doing a bit of internet research suggests to check the EGR valve but I'm not sure where that might be. One or two suggestions were for cleaning up the throttle body so that is what I did.
